STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Turn Down OZZFEST In Favor Of Studio Work
March 14, 2002STONE TEMPLE PILOTS were offered a chance to participate in this year's Ozzfest, but reportedly turned down the offer in order to concentrate on studio work. According to singer Scott Weiland “[we turned down Ozzfest] not because we don't think OzzFest is a viable tour, it obviously is a viable tour. It's been around for quite some time, now and it's pretty successful and not to mention lucrative. But lucrative is not always the best reason to do a tour. I think we're more interested in the music that nobody has heard yet. And a lot of music we haven't even heard yet ourselves. In a sense I'm hinting around that we're looking towards making another record.”
Despite the fact that STP have turned down Ozzfest, plans exist for the group to play several festivals this spring, including Atlanta's Music Midtown. Here are the confirmed dates so far:
Apr. 12 - Austin, TX @ Auditorium Shores
Apr. 13 - Miami, FL @ Bicetennial Park Beyond 2002
Apr. 27 - Charlotte, NC @ Cityfest Live
Apr. 28 - Zephyrhills, FL @ Zephyrhills Festival Park (Livestock)
May 04 - Atlanta, GA @ Music Midtown Festival
May 05 - Memphis, TN @ Beale Street Music Festival
